Texan
TexanThe T-6 Texan was one of the primary WWII trainers used by the allies. Fighter pilots of the era had to master this heavy, ponderous machine before proceeding on to the even more powerful and faster front line fighters. Famous for its loud propeller noise on takeoff and climb, the Texan is a perrennial favorite of mine.
Smoke On!
Smoke On!A local pilot in his Christensen Eagle forms up on the wing of the Stearman I was fortunate to be riding in for the parade over downtown Halstead as part of the Halstead Fly-In. Dave's plane is tricked with a race number for the EAA Oshkosh air race he competed in earlier this year.
180
180Cessna 180 reclining at the annual Halstead antique aircraft fly-In. Dramatic skies that morning belied the beautiful morning air for the event. The fly in saw "a little bit of everything" from amateur designed homebuilts, to warbirds, to classic Cessnas like this 180. We have a rich aviation culture here in south central Kansas that is deeply reflective of our aircraft building history.
